Membership/Donor Drive

Encouraging public awareness of the role of art in improving the quality of life for all who live in our region is the primary mission of the Artists' Cooperative of Savanna (ACS). While we have represented the 321 Art Gallery for the last three years, located in the downtown of the city of Savanna, our focus does not stop in there, but encompasses all of Carroll County and its surrounding communities.

We are very excited to announce that our cooperative has recently received its not-for-profit status from the State of Illinois. What this means for our members and sponsors is that their donation to our continued efforts is absolutely tax deductible. What this means for the arts in our area is increased art awareness. Until now, our focus has had to remain somewhat narrow since all of our operational funds have been provided through a small amount of memberships and volunteers.

The ACS is seeking members to represent and also sponsors to support its future activities and events. Your involvement will help create cultural visibility for the communities in Carroll County and form a path from afar for generations to enjoy and learn about the arts. We would like to add your name to our list of members and contributors.

In the past three years, we have shown more than 40 local artists' work, presented each six weeks in public exhibitions; we have featured the local school's art departments in our youth gallery, have worked to fund those departments with a portion of our proceeds from fundraising events; and have worked in conjunction with various local organizations, sponsoring shows such as the Mayfest art show held every Memorial Day weekend in Mt. Carroll, donating our time and efforts.

In the next year, the ACS would like to be able to help in aiding local artisans in our communities by promoting outside of Carroll County, thereby increasing tourism; be able to provide scholarships to graduating seniors who are going on to pursue art related careers; and to be able to provide our local youth with the opportunity to receive free art instruction from established artists in our region, just to name a few.

Membership and Sponsorship is open to any individual or business who realizes the impact of art on our daily lives.

Don't miss the works of Leah Richter, of Clinton, IA, who is currently displaying her large acrylic portraits with the 321 Art Gallery, the Juried Art Show that will follow on August 22, and the ACS' annual fall fundraiser dinner, held this year on October 24, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit an area high school art department.

For more information about these events, membership, or if you would like to make a donation to keep the Arts alive in our schools and communities, please contact the Artists' Cooperative of Savanna, c/o Heather A. Houzenga, president, 321 Main Street, Savanna, IL 61074, call 563-212-7155, or zenga21@yahoo.com.

A representative will follow up to further discuss the benefits of becoming a part of the ACS and remember: Art is everywhere… Play your part.
